There is becoming more and more publicity now regarding the Mediterranean diet, not just as a way of losing weight, but also as a lifestyle that will keep you fit and healthy and hopefully give you a longer life.
You see, while most of the Western world has been gorging on a diet high in saturated fat and refined sugar, the people in the Med have been eating the same way that they have been eating for years, and as a process staying fitter, leaner and outliving a lot of the rest of the world.
Of course there are still obese people in the Med, but I think that is down to us in the west for introducing our food to them, kind of the same as some of the stuff that has happened in the far east.
But on the whole they have a lifestyle that we should really be looking to if we want to improve our diet.
Why? I hear you ask - well to put it simply their diet is high in good foods like fresh veg such as tomatos, olives and the like - also for their cooking they use olive oil which is starting top be proven scientifically to be good for you. But I think the kicker is that their diet is high in fish - especially oily fish that contain Omega 3.
All of this added together really makes for appealing food, which not only looks and tastes good - but can do you the world of good at the same time healthwise.
However, bear in mind that if you decide to start eating this way and it is an extreme change to your diet, you may want to consult with your doctor first
